The probe has an array of 64 PAR sensors embedded in a 1 m long probe, and is connected via an RS-232 cable to a PC or hand-held Data Collection Terminal D-PSION2. When reading is taken, all sensors are scanned and the measurements are transmitted to the D-PSION2 terminal or PC. The average light level along the probe is calculated, and all of the individual sensor readings are available if required for detailed PAR mapping.
An operating button on the probe handle enables successive readings to be taken quickly and simply on demand. Alternatively, unattended logging can be conducted under program control from the terminal or PC. Readings are in units of PAR quantum flux (µmols m-2 s-1).
