The quartz enclosed heating elements are also attached to the platform, and are powered by a solid-state energy regulator and calibrated control. A cooling fan is installed in the rear of the distillation unit to reduce cooling time between distillations. A toughened glass observation window is fitted in the front of the distillation window, and a spillage collection tray with outlet is mounted beneath the heaters.
The condenser unit is attached to the distillation unit, and may be used with either a static fill of coolant or a laboratory cooling supply. Houses within the condenser unit is a thermally-insulated, stainless steel coolant tank, fitted with a permanently installed condenser tube. A drain tap and an overflow outlet are mounted on the rear of the unit.
