Filters are made of sintered porous metal which provide a means of filtering particulates from the vapor stream. Sintered porous metal consists of small spheres of metal fused in a furnace and are free of VOCs, unlike many commercially available aquarium filters. Filters are durable and can be used similarly to sieves; however, they may be somewhat harder to clean for reuse. Filters also allow the VAPOR PIN® and extensions to be tightened with a wrench.
