When electromagnetic radiation is reflected from the surface of a dielectric body, the reflected radiation is at least partially linearly polarized. Complete polarization of the reflected beam occurs when the refracted beam is perpendicular to the reflected beam.
Principle
When electromagnetic radiation is reflected from the surface of a dielectric body, the reflected radiation is at least partially linearly polarized. Complete polarization of the reflected beam occurs when the refracted beam is perpendicular to the reflected beam. The corresponding angle of incidence is called the angle of polarization or Brewster’s angle.
